Initial Meeting
I like to have an initial meeting with you in the place where your commission will reside. We can talk about everything you would like in the design including:
Before Work Begins
About two weeks after our initial meeting I will provide you with a written proposal including drawings that is good for 30 days. If you find the proposal acceptable, I will require a 50% down payment. This payment allows me to purchase materials and store them in my shop so they can acclimate to my shop environment. Wood moves in response to new environments so a two-to-four week period is necessary to stabilize it before building your piece.
During the Build
Feel free to visit the shop and follow progress on the Design-and-Build blog. I will document every step of the process so you can see exactly how it all comes together. I welcome comments along the way. Substantial commissions require 1-3 months to complete.
Delivery
When your piece is complete I will contact you to schedule delivery. Upon delivery, payment of the balance due is required.
Pricing
The price varies of course from commission to commission. I will give you a ballpark estimate in our initial meeting but the exact price estimate will appear on the formal proposal. Wood choices and design details enter in.
